The bible is very clear on the work of the Church. There is a fundamental reason that God saved us, and that is not only that we can obtain everlasting life, but that we in turn will reach those that are not saved. The Bible states in 1 Corin. 5:18(KJV) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation….

The gift of Salvation constrains us to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ! It is a driving force that if obeyed and tapped into, will have the effect that God meant for it to have when he saved us and that is other souls will be added to the Church! Acts 2:47(KJV) And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved .

The following are a few local ministries of the Church of God in Columbus, GA.

Prison & Jail Ministry

image placeholderWe have a responsibility to share the word of God where ever an open door presents its self. We believe that even the most hardened of criminals, or troubled youth offenders, can be touched and changed forever by the power and love of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ through the gift of salvation. We have a very active Prison Ministry that serves at J.T. Rutledge State Prison,  Muscogee County Jail, Muscogee County Prison & the State Transition Center.

Nursing Home Ministries

Visiting the sick and the shut in is a necessary ministry of the Church of God. It’s imperative that these souls are encouraged and uplifted in the later stages of life. Often times we find that family & friends have forsaken these souls, and it encourages us to encourage them and allow Jesus to shine thru us.

Mental Health Ministries

When Jesus Christ healed bodies, he did not shy away from any case. He spread the Gospel and healed bodies where ever he went. Our mental health ministry affords The Church of God the opportunity to share the Gospel with those individuals who are in this particular hospital. The Gospel is preached to all in attendance, both patients and staff. Songs of Zion are sung and souls are left encouraged.
