Poems by Sis. Robin
Jan. 16th Poem
For Pastor Burton |
The Advocate
He stood in the corner away from the crowd
He wanted to speak-to shout it out loud
But not at that moment, it wasn't the time
To speak for the one who'd committed the crime
Some argued quite forcefully
They wanted to show
Why he should be spared
And let free to go
But the Judge was not budging
He was not convinced
The condemned should be spared-for such an offence
With all pleading over-both sides rested their case
You could guess the Judges verdict by the look on his face
As the Judge raised the gavel-the accused started to moan
Then a “Wait!” pierced the crowd as One rushed to the throne
He wasn't much to look at-He had blood on His side
Scars in His hands and tears in His eyes
As he began to speak-the accused lost all fear
And the words that he spoke brought the whole crowd to tears
